The final ceremony of “The Sunshine Bookmark Contest 2012”

On Thursday 31st May 2012 the final ceremony in the International Art Competition "Sunshine Bookmark 2012" was held in the Public Library in Ursus. The theme of the contest was "My favorite book". More than 800 participants from Austria, Bulgaria, Poland and Serbia took part in the competition. The entries were evaluated in the general and national category, in five age groups.

Due to the topic and the international nature of the contest it was a unique opportunity to compare the aesthetic sensitivity and reading habits of children and young people of different countries in Europe.

At the beginning of the ceremony the Mayor of Ursus District Wiesław Krzemień, in his short speech, stressed how important for the district authorities is promoting reading and books as sources of knowledge.

Grand Prix was given to the entries prepared by the young artists from Art Studio „Petite Montmartre" in Belgrade: Marija Djikić, Mina Iglendža, Iva Jovanović, Sofija Jović, Oliver Lazović, Ana Mijović, Joonji Nam, Nadja Petrović, Todor Rakić, Marko Štulić.

The president of the jury, a well-known Polish illustrator, Krystyna Lipka-Sztarbałło having an interview with Serbian TV evaluated the projects from Art Studio as "the work done under the supervision of an outstanding educator (...) The admiration of the jury was aroused by the great dexterity and wonderful compositions - of both the form and the colour" . During the final ceremony, the statuette and great awards (laptop and graphics tablets) for the winners of the Grand Prix were given to Radojko Bogojević - the Ambassador of the Republic of Serbia by Henryk Linowski - the Chairman of Ursus District Council and Marianna Jaguścik - the Chairman of the Cultural Committee of Ursus District Council and Andrzej Jaczewski - the President of EBEJOT – the founder of the Grand Prix Award .

In the general category the I, II and III place was won either by Polish children or by Bulgarian and Austrian. Prizes for the winners of the contest were founded mainly by – the Minister of Culture and National Heritage - Bogdan Zdrojewski, the Mayor of the Ursus District - Wiesław Krzemień, the Director of the Bulgarian Institute of Culture - Michaela Todorova, the Counselor of Culture of the Embassy of Austria - Mag. iur. Ulla Krauss-Nussbaumer. The special guests of the ceremony was Miomir Rajcević - the representative of Media Education Centre and the partner of the ABC project and Vesna Pavlicek - the journalist of the Public Television of Serbia.

An unusual exhibition of 120 winning and nominated works was open after the ceremony in the Public Library in Ursus District. The exhibition presents original projects and their electronically converted version of traditional bookmark as well as the books that inspired the young artists. The exhibition will be open till Friday, 20th July 2012 and then will be presented in Belgrade and Vienna.
